MATT LAURIE

Matt Laurie has an impressive strike rate. For the current 2016 / 2017 racing season, Matt's strike rate is 12% winners to runners and a 36% placing to runners rate. As at 10th November, he is currently 12th in the Victorian Premiership standings, an excellent effort with only 50 horses in training of which 30% are still unnamed 2 year olds.

Matt has been involved in the education and training of horses internationally and within Australia. His expertise in training and re-educating difficult horses, using the philosophies based on the training principles of long time mentor, Dr Andrew McLean of the Australian Equine Behaviour Centre has given him the skills to break them in and to understand and address problems that others can’t.

Matt took out a trainers’ licence in 2004. His desire to maximize a horse’s ability, coupled with his understanding of the horse’s psychology makes Matt an all-round horseman with a widely respected reputation within the industry.

His hard work and dedication to becoming the best in the business is providing great results already, with many metropolitan winners to his name and his first stakes success when The Travelling Man had an all the way win the Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield on 26 January 2012.
