No luck needed in impressive debut - ICYMI - Watch!

It's not often a debutant will head to races and win at their first start, let alone record the fastest race of the day by over 10 lengths! However, promising 3yo RICH LUCK did just that, winning on debut over the 1400m trip by a comfortably 2.25 lengths.

Ridden by Chris Symons, who partnered the talented gelding in an impressive trial win back in May, Rich Luck lined up at Pakenham today to make his debut against a quality 3yo Maiden field. After coming across from the wide draw Chris was happy to sit out side the leader in what was a truly run race. Knowing what he had underneath him Chris then let the gelding slide forward as they turned for home and the pair let down nicely to put up a comprehensive margin to the rest of the field with 400m to go. From their Rich Luck was never in doubt and stormed to the line for an easy win.

The impressive thing about today's stunning debut was the fact Rich Luck's time was over 10L faster the other 1400m Maiden and the BM64 1400m on the same day. It is not often you see the 3yo maidens (on debut mind you) run a quicker time than the BM races over the same distance.

'He has always shown us a lot of natural ability' Said a delighted Matt from Racing.Com Park.

'I thought the 1400m would suit him better on debut and he relaxed beautifully for Chris'

The son of Danerich was Matt Laurie Racing's 43rd winner for Season 2015/16 and with a fortnight to go the team are on target to reach 45 winners by seasons end.
