Stable favourite Riddle Me That has won his third stakes race - his second at Flemington - taking out the 1600m VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final (LR).

Given a perfect ride throughout by Jye McNeil, the 6yo Deep Field x Justine Coup (NZ) gelding was tucked away on the rail after jumping from barrier 2. "I drew well and wanted to utilise that barrier draw today and we landed in the perfect position," Jye advised post race. "At the top of the straight it was just a matter of maneuvering into the clear and I was going well enough that he was able to do that for me and he produced a nice finish to secure a nice win."

It was a thrilling win for connections Tom and Sue Curnow of Aqua Trained Thoroughbreds, who also bred Riddle Me That. For trainer Matt Laurie, it was a greatly rewarding victory as this horse has suffered a number of injury set backs throughout his career; the most recent being a serious hock injury which required a three-month hiatus.

In saying that, Riddle Me That has made the most of his 29 starts, with stakes wins in the Bendigo Guineas (LR), the VRC Paris Lane Stakes (LR) and now the Winter Championship Final and has earned a total of $541,940 in prizemoney.
